With almost endless possibilities, coming up with new content for your social media channels and blog can be hard. In this article, we’re listing ideas that you can use to create content online. You can use most of these ideas repeatedly, treating them like a series. Just be sure to use your analytics as a guide for what’s worth repeating.
- Product or service demonstration clip: Show your audience how to use your product, or the end results of your service, so they can see the benefit for themselves.
If you sold a product for the kitchen, for example, you could demonstrate any of these: unboxing, assembly, cleaning, and using your gadget to prepare ingredients for a meal. These videos are all a chance to showcase the benefits of your product.
If you mow lawns as a service, for example, you could demonstrate highlights from the entire process, before and after comparisons, tools you use, and products you use. The goal is to demonstrate the benefits of your service.
- Answer Frequently Asked Questions: Keep track of questions that customers and potential customers ask you. These questions are extremely relevant to your target audience and would make for good content.
For products, you might get questions like “how do I use product?”, or “how do I clean product?”. Make sure to write down real questions you are asked.
For services, you’ll probably hear questions like “how long does this service take?”, or “what can I expect during the process?”. Sometimes people ask questions without really asking the question. These can be noted as well.
And remember, focus on answering the questions that customers are asking you. Answering these questions helps customers and potential customers find their answers quickly, keeping customers happy and hopefully moving potential customers further down the sales funnel.
- Customer Reviews and Success Stories: Let your audience see and hear the benefits of your product or service, by sharing reviews or stories from your existing customers.
For products, you can share reviews you’ve gotten (make sure you’re allowed) or interviews of people that have purchased and used your product. Maybe you have user-submitted videos using your product and those could make for some good material online.
For services, reviews and outcomes are probably the most impactful success metric to share. And, with reviews, your existing customers describe the benefit of your service to potential customers in their own words.
- Give a behind the scenes look: Where do you spend your time working? Your audience might appreciate seeing where the work gets done, or what the process looks like.
If you sell a product, this might look like a tour of your workspace, packaging up the product, creating the product, or behind the scenes on shipping day.
If you provide a service, you could give a sneak-peek of your office, introduce any office pets, show people how to get to your office in an office park or building, or maybe even show people where to park to reach your office.
- Meet the team: Whether you’re a team of 1 or 49, you could introduce them to your audience. This can help connect your audience to the people behind your business.
No matter whether you sell products or services, meet the team posts are a chance for you to highlight employees of your business. Make sure they want to be included in this. It should be opt-in for employees.
- Promotions or giveaways: People like to get a deal and promoting a sale or giveaway can be a great way to encourage engagement.
Promotions and giveaways can help draw in a larger audience. Just make sure you’re complying will all applicable laws, and social media terms of service before posting it.
Most promotions and giveaways come down to people wanting to save money. Frequently, they are used to get people to sign-up for mailing list or take a survey. For brick-and-mortar stores, these can be used to drive traffic into the store.
- New products or services: Showing off a new offering can help spread the word about what you sell and drive more interest.
Do you have a cool new product or service? Make a launch video to get the word out online, because people can’t know about it until you tell them.
Conclusion
These are some ideas for content that can help engage your audience online. Try them and see how your audience responds. If you get more reactions and responses, then you might consider creating a series of content in that type.
