August 2023 Holidays
August is American Artists Appreciation Month. This month celebrates American artists of all types, including visual artists, performing artists, musicians, poets, writers, and more! If you’re an artist, or a business that supports artists, directly or indirectly, then this month is especially tailored to showcase art and support artists. August is also National Crayon Collection Month which collects gently-used crayons and redistributes them to schools in need, supporting the budding artists across the country. It’s a great time to start collecting crayons for local students in your area. National Coloring Book Day is also August 2nd.
August is also National Sandwich Month and National Panini Month. Restaurants, this is a chance to highlight your unique sandwich offerings to bring customers into your establishments. This month celebrates all sandwiches, so let the diners know what you’ve got!
National Wellness Month is August. National Wellness Month is meant for everyone to focus on self-care, stress management, and creating healthy habits in our lives. There are a wide range of industries who focus on one or all of these aspects. Your industry might help people do more for their self-care with activities or products to make their time more relaxing. You might help with ways to alleviate stress or better manage stressful situations. Or, you might focus on healthy habits, like exercise and eating better. Whatever your wellness focus, August is a month to celebrate how you help people on their wellness journey.

Here are some activities that will be happening in August:

Baseball is still going strong, the US Open Tennis starts at the end of August, there is more auto racing, the Cycling World Championships are in Glasgow in August, and the Little League World Series is August 16-27. Whatever sports you follow, there is probably something happening this month!

August is right in the middle of summer, the days are long, the weather’s nice (if hot), and there are many activities to participate in. Some holidays to celebrate are National Disc Golf Day or Sandcastle and Sculpture Day on August 1st, American Family Day is August 6th, National Beach Party Day and National Lighthouse Day are August 7th, National Bowling Day and National Garage Sale Day are August 12th, National Relaxation Day is August 15th, International Geocaching Day is August 19th, and National Toasted Marshmallow Day is August 30th. So, there is no shortage of activities to find and participate in this month!
- Many kids are going back to school for the fall! 🏫
August starts the beginning of back to school for many kids. Their families are looking for last-minute, family friendly activities to fill the last few days while they get their school supplies together and before they head back to the classroom. It can be a great time to check out museums or parks and make the most of the outdoor weather before they go back.
