What Should I Blog About? March 2023

Not sure what you should blog about? Then this is the series for you!

March has lots of holidays that you could and should blog about and we’re going to list a few of them here. We’ve updated and expanded the list for 2023, and you can find the rest of this series here.

There are holidays and celebrations for all kinds of businesses in March and you’re sure to find something you can blog about in this list!

March 2023 Holidays

March might be most widely known for St. Patrick’s Day and March Madness.

St. Patrick’s Day began as a celebration of St. Patrick, a patron saint in Ireland. Once brought to the U.S., St. Patrick’s Day has evolved into a secular celebration of Irish culture and no longer just a Christian celebration. Businesses of all types celebrate St. Patrick’s Day yearly on March 17.

March is also National Women’s History Month to celebrate the contributions of women in American history. The Library of Congress website, https://womenshistorymonth.gov/, contains a lot of resources for learning about this history. There are contributions from women in every field and industry and March is the month to make sure they aren’t forgotten.

March is also National Caffeine Awareness Month, National Craft Month, National Music in Our Schools Month, and National Umbrella Month. These themes could provide a wide array of content for your business to blog about.

March 2023 Activities

Here are some activities that will be happening in March

  • For basketball and sports fans, March is all about March Madness.

March Madness starts on Selection Sunday, March 12 in 2023, with the creation of their brackets. Even less avid basketball fans have probably created a bracket or two (of course, as a native Hoosier, my information might be skewed 😂). March Madness continues into April with the NCAA Championship game on April 3. Here in Indianapolis, basketball is celebrated by all types of businesses during March, whether it be through merchandise, decorations, food specials, or more.

  • March 20th marks the official beginning of Spring in the northern hemisphere.

The Spring Equinox is March 20th at 5:24 EDT, and the weather is warming up and spring activities are beginning to happen. Maybe you’re seeing some flowers starting to bloom or are getting plants ready to put outside. For gardeners and landscapers, spring marks the beginning of a more colorful time of year. For many outdoor enthusiasts, March is the time to start going outside more for activities, which might include outdoor patio dining at restaurants, taking walks or hikes outdoors, or other fun activities.

  • The 2023 Iditarod Trail International Sled Dog Race.

The race takes place beginning on March 4. This race celebrates the sled dog in Alaskan lifestyle and the Iditarod Trail as a National Historic Trail. Most of the dogs used are Alaskan Huskies and have pre-race and mid-race checkups. For businesses that work with dogs or working dogs, the Iditarod can be a way to promote your canine’s fellow worker pups. March 19-25 is also National Animal Poison Prevention Week, to tie in animal safety.

  • Opening Day for Baseball.

Baseball fans might have been watching spring training, but on March 30, the MLB has their Opening Day of the season. So, if your business deals with sports, then by the end of March, baseball is getting into full swing just as March Madness is ending.
